interview with pszren

1) Who are you?

I think I am a composer. But I also do things like poetry. And by poetry I don't only mean writing (although notation is really helpful), but also sound poetry. So I'm not sure if poetry is about singing or not, but it's about sounds. Did I say poetry? I meant composition. Certainly, composition is about notation.

2) Can you describe your surroundings?

Not too many people around me do stuff like I do. I mean there are such people even in the neighouring blocks of flats, there is a violinist, a dancer, and that guy making videos. But an important element of my creative surroundings is the internet, and our group is very important for my musical activities.

3) Where would you like to go?

Holidays, seashore. Relax. A friend (also EFSPACM member) sent me a recording of sea vawes, really relaxing. Over an hour long.

4) What would you say are the main features of your creative process(s)?

I think I don't have an algorithm that I use in all my projects. And I should have one, at least a some kind of a pattern (especially while creating a single project). But it's usually searching for the basics. I think "what is music?" (or "what is poetry"), and I am searching, because I don't know. Then suddenly I start creating.

5) What do you really want your audience to understand about you/your art?

Like in writing a letter, I would like to communicate. To share emotions and feelings. But sometimes it's also fine when people simply like my music/poetry, even when I achieve a different sound effect that I wanted at first.

6) Does audience matter?

People influence me, certainly. Sometimes I try to do something for the public, and the results are not good. It's better when I receive feedback after simply trying to create something as good as I can.

7) Why Resist?

Because they make it all wrong. They think they are experimental, and they simply repeat experiments form many years ago.

8) Why do you do it?

Probably to be praised. I mean to become a recognized composer/poet. I read many biographies of great people (artists, scientists). I want to be one of them.

9) What drives you?

Sugar. But sometimes it's the "creative workshop". I mean it's obvious for me to create, so it simply happens. I have the energy inside, and inspirations are all around us.

10) What do you do in your daily life?

I try to find time to create.

11) Do you have any strategies for adapting to the challenges of existing in your unnatural environment? If so, what are they?

There are many mistakes, habits, that take lots of time from me. I spend about three hours a day writing emails. Is it wise? I mean I think it would be better for me to spend three hours a day creating (music, poetry, art).

12) What is your favorite animal?

His name is Aid. He is our dog. While walking with him I often have thoughts, and after that I say that we've discussed it.

13) What would your superpower be?

Something about health. But rather "keeping the society happy" than solving problems.

14) What’s the strangest thing you’ve ever seen?

I am really trying to think about something, but I cannot find anything. Perhaps some kind of a website that should not be seen?

15) Please tell us something about one EFSPACM project that you took part in, and how you worked on your piece.

Perhaps the "Something about bikes?!" project can be easily recalled. I turned the wheel of our bike, it was next to the washing machine, and I recorded it with my phone. The result was not too good, but there were moments that were better - so I used those parts of the recording.
