Interview with Neal D. Retke

Image
1) Who are you? {AN} EeL / Neal D. Retke  2) Can you describe your surroundings? Currently - The ' Man Cave ' portion of the house, i.e. - the basement, A.K.A. ~ Where the magic happens  3) Where would you like to go? As time progresses, it's less a matter of where I want to than enjoying where I am - A Mantra presented itself to me a number of years ago, that being " This is where I am Now " - It's always true & bears keeping in mind. I consider myself fortunate in having traveled a lot - New Zealand, Central & South America, All around the USA - Several pilgrimages to Cheser, Ill.  I've lived a nomadic lifestyle for many of my year. So my travel itch is well satiated I'm happy to say - Having said that, there's nothing quite as meditative  4) What would you say are the main features of your creative process(s)? Improvisation, Collaboration, Spontaneity 5) What do you really want your audience to understand about you/your art? I'm indi...

Interview with Volker Störtebeker

Image
1)       Who are you? Who is me, Volker? I am Volker “Bauli” Störtebeker (nickname derived from Bauland my offstage real lastname)  and I hail from the fair city of Groningen (Grönn/Grønn/Grunn) situated in the north of the Netherlands. Oh yeah, Holland doesn’t exist (as official country name). I am a trombonist, selftought didgeridooist, sousaphonist and euphoniumist. I play in a lot of different constellations but I reckon most know me of Terbeschikkingstelling (experimental improv noise). My oldest band is skaband Knight Susan. Also I like trying everything and like putting bad jokes in music, hence I also created Dolph S. Lundgren in which I combine my sense of humor with crude artwork and raw noisish stuff, which I like to call wacky noise. Next to making art I also organise a soundart festival “het Rumoer” and a skafest “Skasjock”. 2)       Can you describe your surroundings? Yes I could. I live above a cornerhome in a...

Interview with Magic Bullet

Image
1) Who are you?   We are Magic Bullet. I am Mick Magic, he is Skit Zoyd. We are counterparts from parallel realities / twins who tell lies / something altogether much stranger. I know which one my money is on.  2) Can you describe your surroundings?   We live in a house that is just shy of 100 years old, big heavy wooden doors, picture rails and high ceilings. I have the second bedroom, at the front of the house, probably about 4½ metres square, as an office / music studio. There is no view this side, my wife has that luxury, working at the rear of the house, overlooking farmland, ponds and the Lancashire Fells. We live in the village of Knott End-On-Sea on the Fylde Coast in Lancashire, England. It has no bank or supermarket, the nearest of either being a half hour drive. And no through road, being bordered by the River Wyre to the west and the Irish Sea to the north, looking across Morecambe Bay to the Cumbrian Mountains. Stop smirking, I'll have you know one of them is...
